Grace After Meals
This article was written by Stephen Butterfass for Religious Living on the web

The commandment to thank God after a meal is based on a verse from Torah: "And you shall eat and you shall be satisfied and you shall bless Adonai, Your God, for the good land God gave you". (Deuteronomy 8:10). Whether we eat a lot or modestly, we are expected to express gratitude for our sustenance before and after we partake of food. The grace after meals presented here is a short version. Additional verses are also added on Chanukah and Purim thanking God for the miracles of redemption commemorated by these holidays.
